Jo Neace Krause

In Memoriam 1935-2022

Jo Neace Krause was born in eastern Kentucky in Breathitt County during WWII. Her family migrated to a town near Cincinnati, OH, where she attended Ohio State University. She married historian John Thomas Krause and lived in Buffalo, NY, until she bought a farm and moved to Coble, TN.

Krause's short story collection, The Last Game We Played, was selected as the first winner of The Hudson Prize (formerly known as The Ontario Prize).

Krause passed away March of 2022 in her home.
