Doyle Grisham
|
Music is Doyle Grisham’s life. He began with guitar lessons when he was 11 and by the age of 15 was playing the guitar to earn money. Country music is his preferred musical genre, but he also enjoys old-time POP music as well as jazz.
Grisham enjoys playing a wide variety of instruments including pedal steel guitar, electric guitar, bass, fiddle, mandolin, and piano. Even though he makes his living with the steel guitar, his favorite instrument is still the one he played first, the electric guitar. A pedal steel guitar is different than a guitar because it sits on four legs and has pedals connected to rods. The pedals allow the musician to change the sound of certain strings. In addition, a small metal bar is used to slide along the strings of the guitar to get different notes. Grisham’s first experience with Grinders Switch Ensemble started about five years ago as a back-up for another musician. After the show, the band invited him to join them whenever he was available. Because he enjoyed their type of music and style of playing, he wasted no time joining them whenever he could. Soon, the Grinders Switch Ensemble made him an official band member. Grisham plays for Jimmy Buffett when he is on tour. The Grinders Switch Ensemble is great for him to work with because of his schedule. Be assured that whenever he is able, he is playing with Grinders Switch Ensemble. Although Grisham’s life is music, he does enjoy computers and fly fishing. |
