Catherine Hurd

Catherine Hurd’s artistic education and career has led her across the USA. She received her bachelor's degree in Theater from Florida Atlantic University. She also has two master’s degrees; one in Film Production from Florida State University and one in Screenwriting from UCLA. Before being accepted to UCLA, she taught Film History at the University of South Florida.
Hurd’s years of education are evident throughout her career. She began by writing screenplays, then transitioned to play writing. Next, she wrote the book and lyrics for the musical play, Zuccotti Park, which was performed at Fringe New York City and at the NY Theater Festival, where it won first place in the Musical Division. Hurd also wrote a one act play, Until Death Do Us Part, which was published by Lazy Bee Scripts in Great Britain. The play was a finalist at the NY Theater Festival. In addition, Hurd’s play, Rumpelstiltskin, The Game of the Name, was performed at the Woodland Opera House in Woodland, CA. It was nominated for thirteen Sacramento Area Regional Theater Awards and won six. Soon after this, it was published by YouthPLAYS in Los Angeles. She was also hired to write a made-for-TV movie for Lifetime Network. |
